A Community Land Trust (CLT) is a not for profit community-based organisation run by volunteers that delivers housing and other community facilities at permanently affordable levels for local people.
CLTs genuinely empower local communities whether it's through housing for the elderly or running a community hub, shop or post office.
CLTs can apply for grants to support projects and also receive a small income from rents to pay for the running of the Trust, its present and future projects.
There is a national network of CLTs all running similar projects but based on local need.
Knaresborough Community Land Trust is an open membership, non-profit organisation – anyone who is 16 years or over and lives, works or studies in the Knaresborough area or surrounding villages can join.
Free Membership
Membership is free, though donations are always welcome – your signature on the form ensures you have a vote on all projects and on board elections.
Voting
Voting is based on ‘one member one vote’. In the future, the CLT may offer a share option but the value of any shares you may own at any point will not alter your right to only one vote on each item for consideration.
